BIOGRAPHY
artist, jazz singer, composer and pianist
Mina Nystad is a vocalist, composer, singer-songwriter and pianist from Norway. She is soon to release her second original album in the spring of 2027, which was recorded in Oslo in September and October of 2026. A recent graduate and scholarship recipient of both Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory, Mina holds two degrees in jazz composition and jazz vocal performance.
Mina released her 10-track debut-album "Raining Away" in June, 2024. Composer Chris Johnson said about the album: “It is tender, yet forceful; intimate, yet expansive. Mina’s smoky, agile voice firmly places her music within the jazz tradition, yet she imbues it with modern soul elements."
Mina’s music embodies heartfelt and honest storytelling. Blending jazz, singer/songwriter, soul and folk influences, she draws inspiration from the Great American Songbook and the old classics - to contemporary jazz. Over the last few years, she has played her original music and led her own band in the United States and in Norway. While being based in New York in 2025 she performed her original music at legendary venues such as Arlene's Grocery, Silvana Harlem and DADA. Mina's performances in Norway include stages like Kongsberg Jazz festival, Jazz på Kampen, Fjordfest and Hagefestivalen – as well as having opened for notable Norwegian artists such as Mathias Eick, Sondre Lerche, Silya and Silje Nergaard.
